2018 World Cup: Uzoho’s place assured

By Daily Sports on December 10, 2017

Super Eagles goal keeper, Francis Uzoho’s place in the Eagles ahead of next year’s World Cup in Russia may be certain, if report making the news is anything to go by.

According to a report by SCORENigeria, Eagles handler, Gernot Rohr gave the hint that youngster Francis Uzoho could be on the final squad to Russia.

Former U17 goalkeeper Uzoho, 19, made his full international debut against Argentina last month.

And Rohr has hinted the Deportivo La Coruna shot stopper is now being considered for the World Cup.

“Nigeria today has the youngest team in the World Cup with 24.9 years of average age. The figure may be even lower in Russia, as we spotted a 19-year-old goalkeeper inLa Coruna (Uzoho),” he said in an interview.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Alampasu, Dele Ajiboye and Daniel Akpeyi are the other goalkeepers battling for places on the final squad.

Rohr said Ezenwa will be fully monitored at next month’s CHAN in Morocco by Enrico Pionetti.
