Rohr says more work still needed for Eagles

By Daily Sports on November 15, 2017

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has saluted his team after they defeated Argentina 4-2 in a friendly in Krasnodar tonight, but insisted the win does not install the Super Eagles as favourites to win the next year’s World Cup.

The Eagles fought back from two goals down to win 4-2 as both countries began preparation for Russia 2018 in earnest.

It was Nigeria’s only second win over the South Americans, who are ranked the fourth best team in the world and 37 places above their opponents.

However, Rohr said there is still a lot of work for his team to do ahead of the World Cup.

“It’s good victory for us, but it doesn’t mean we’ve become favorites to win the World Cup,” the coach said after the friendly.

“We stay humble and realise we have more work to do.

“We prepared well for this game because playing Argentina is big for us, maybe it is different for them.”
