Germany hand call up to Rohr’s target Uduokhai

By Daily Sports on November 4, 2017

The chances of Nigeria luring fast rising Wolfsburg defender Felix Uduokhai from Germany took a big hit when the 20 year old was called up to the U21 team of Germany.

Although he has longed declared his intention to continue his career growth with Germany, the country he has represented at various youth level, Nigeria were confident of luring the defender.

Germany based Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba told Owngoalnigeria.com that the defender revealed to him that he has been approached by Nigeria, but he will rather focus on progressing with Germany.

Despite his open stance, Franco-German coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr left the door open for the defender who is comfortable as a left back or as a central defender ‎to be a part of the Nigerian team to the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

His recent call up to the German youth set up will no doubt make the job of convincing him to switch allegiance to Nigeria difficult as most players who have represented Germany at U21 level end up in the senior team within a short period of time.
