World football governing body FIFA has slammed a fine of $30,000 on Nigeria for crowd disorder during last month’s World Cup qualifier against Cameroon in Uyo.
According to a FIFA statement on its official website, Nigeria violated article 65 and 67 of the FBC FIFA stadium safety and security regulations.
They were charged for improper conduct amongst spectators (pitch invasions by supporters and invasions of restricted areas by supporters other than the pitch).
Nigeria were also warned against future occurrence.
The Super Eagles face Zambia on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in a crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Other countries fined for various offences according to the statement include Germany, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chile, England, France and Guinea.
Nigeria will host Zambia this Saturday in a qualifying tournament for Russia 2018.
Nigeria lead Group B with 10 points from four matches and they will advance to next year’s Mundial if they beat Zambia in Uyo on Saturday.
