Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has declared Nigeria will qualify for next year’s World Cup on October 7 in Uyo at the expense of a resurgent Zambia.
Mikel commended Zambia for their new-found form, but maintained Nigeria plan to book their ticket when both teams clash next month.
“I must admit that I applaud the resurgence of the Zambians this late in the qualifiers. Beating Algeria home and away is no mean feat,” he told the official website of the NFF.
“We will take them very seriously on 7th October because they clearly have a new spirit.
“It is time we wrap this up.”
The former Chelsea star said professionalism, determination and ambition have lifted Nigeria to the top of Group B with 10 points, while also commending coach Gernot Rohr.
“We have all shown professionalism, dedication and determination to be at the pole position in a group tagged ‘Group of Death’,” he saluted.
“Commendations must go to the entire team and the coach, but we must finish it up in Uyo and secure our ticket right there.”
