Enyeama is free to return but… Rohr

By Daily Sports on September 12, 2017

Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles coach, has suggested that former captain of the team Vincent Enyeama won’t replaced present captain John Obi Mikel if he returns to the team.

Enyeama’s return has been on for some time now, but issues escalated when first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with Leukaemia leaving the team with Daniel Akpeyi who failed to convince in the 0-2 loss to South Africa.

Shortly before the back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon, Rohr revealed Enyeama has agreed to return to the team but said the 34 year old is currently injured and having issues with his future at French side Lille.

The coach suggested that he will be back as soon as he is fit and also sort out his club future, however he said Enyeama if he eventually returns would not dictate to him.

“On the case of Enyeama, I want to say that he is welcome to the Eagles any time he wants”, Rohr said.

“Every Nigerian player playing regularly for a good club would be welcome to the Eagles, but I will not accept any player, who wants to dictate his role on the area or position to play”.
