Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) veteran Nojeem Raji is hopeful that his club Sunshine Stars will keep their place in the top division despite having relegation worries.
Sunshine Stars are among nine clubs still sitting precariously just above the drop zone and Raji explained to npfl.ng that things have looked brighter for his club in recent matchdays since Duke Udi took charge as head coach following the departure of Austin Eguavoen in June.
Raji further said Udi's style and progress with Sunshine Stars does not come as a surprise to him having worked with the former Nigeria international while at Giwa FC.
He now believes that the Akure Gunners are poised to stay in the top flight for another season after a poor start to the campaign."We did have a very poor start to the season, something I cannot explain. It was a struggling at that time and these things happen in football. But right now our coach has done his bit plus the hard work my teammates put in every week to make sure that this club do not go on relegation."
Coach Duke has been a wonderful figure in our team. I have worked with him before (at Giwa FC) and it is easier to fit into his style of work. Things have been going good so far and we now look comfortable and confident during games. So I believe this team will not be relegated at the end of the season," Raji told npfl.ng.
