Girona confirm Kayode signing from City

By Daily Sports on August 19, 2017

Striker Olarenwaju Kayode has joined Spanish La Liga outfit Girona on a season-long loan deal.

Girona announced the signing of the 24-year-old forward from Manchester City on Friday."Nigerian Olarenwaju 'Larry' Kayode, top scorer of the Austrian Bundesliga last season, will reinforce the attack of Girona FC in their debut of the First Division. Kayode, 24, is surrendered by Manchester City until the end of the season," a statement on Girona's website revealed.

Kayode had been previously linked with a move to another English Premier League side Newcastle United before Manchester City snapped him for an undisclosed fee and subsequently sent him out on loan.

However Manchester City have not made any statement to the signing of the Nigerian striker but Girona confirmed the player has been hooked from the English side.

The former Maccabi Netanya man is unlikely to feature in the club's first game in the Spanish La Liga against Atletico Madrid at the Municipal de Montilivi on Saturday.

Kayode scored 17 goals last season in the Austrian top division with FK Austria Vienna to emerge top scorer of that league.
