CHAN: Eagles to revenge Benin defeat

By Daily Sports on August 19, 2017

Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has promised hundred percent cover against West African foes, the Squirrels of Benin Republic.

The Nigerians will square up against the Beninese opponents in the decisive 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier on Saturday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Eagles lost 0-1 to their West African neighbours in the first leg fixture clash on Sunday at the Stade de I’Amitie.

Ezenwa said his side are battle ready and will do the needful on the field of play to qualify Nigeria for the fifth CHAN coming up in Kenya next February.

“The most important thing for me is to avoid conceding any goal, I will stand in between the sticks and ensure it is well secured.“

I and my brothers (teammates) are battle ready, we know what is at stake and we will qualify Nigeria for CHAN 2018.

“We will play our hearts out by first cancelling the one goal deficit and scoring the needed goals for qualification.“

The first leg defeat was a mistake, we have put the loss behind us to concentrate fully on the reverse clash. “We have already tagged the match ‘Operation qualify Nigeria for CHAN’ and we will see to its realisation,” said the FC IfeanyiUbah shot stopper to supersport.com.
