Rivers United goalkeeper Ospino Egbe was the hero for the “Pride of Rivers” as they beat Equatorial Guinean side Futuro Kings 2-0 on penalties in a CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round second leg clash on Sunday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The game at full time ended 2-1 in favour of Rivers United with Godwin Aguda and Kehinde Adedipe the scorers for the home team as Asu Pedro drew one back for the king's in the 56th minute of the match.
Both teams were thus on par at 3-3 on aggregate as Futuro Kings won the first leg 2-1
Goalkeeper Ospino Egbe then stepped forward to stop all five spot-kicks in the resulting penalty shootout, before Bamba Bakari and captain on the day Kunle Odunlani scored their own kicks to win it for Rivers United.
Rivers United will now face South African side Bloemfontein Celtic in the first round of the competition with 1st leg scheduled to hold 22-23 December 2020.
