Gernot Rohr has received bad news from Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare on the fitness of Kelechi Iheanacho, two weeks before a crucial World Cup qualifier against Cameroon in Uyo.
The former Manchester City starlet is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a toe injury and is definitely not in contention to make his home debut Saturday against Brighton.'
'Iheanacho has had a bit of discomfort with his toe. He’s been to see a specialist and we’re trying to give him time to recover from it,'' Shakespeare said at Friday's press conference.
The Super Eagles striking options will be limited if Iheanacho does not recover in time for the vital clash with the Indomitable Lions.
Iheanacho's strike partner in the Golden Eaglets, Watford's Isaac Success, has not called up for the World Cup qualifiers in September, as things stand. To put it another way, the Hornets number ten has not yet been sent an invitation by the Nigeria Football Federation.
