Awoniyi moves to Belgium

By Daily Sports on August 1, 2017

Belgian side Excelsior Mouscron have announced the signing of Nigerian attacker Taiwo Awoniyi on a season long loan.

The 19-year-old will defend the colours of the Belgian side as he goes on his third loan spell since joining English Premiership side, Liverpool.

He was first loaned out to German side FSV Frankfurt two years ago before spending last season at Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.

Awoniyi was part of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup-winning squad of 2013 alongside the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Success Isaac of Watford.

He scored four goals in that tournament as Nigeria swept away all the teams to clinch the title in the United Arab Emirates.

A couple of Turkish clubs were on his trail but he eventually opted to try his luck in the Belgian league with Mouscron. © supersport.com
