MFM stay on the heels of Plateau Utd

By Daily Sports on July 31, 2017

MFM FC made sure that they stay on the tails of NPFL leaders Plateau United with a 1-0 success at bottom-placed Remo Stars on Sunday.

Remo Stars head coach Fatai Osho handed some of the club's under-19 stars a chance at top flight football including goalkeeper Tunde Adekunle while MFM trainer Fidelis Ilechukwu named a strong startlist with league leading scorer Stephen Odey and his strike partner Sikiru Olatunbosun.

MFM were dominant in the contest but Adekunle between the sticks for Remo Stars put up an outstanding performance including saving a spot kick by Odey on 56 minutes.

Ilechukwu had to turn to Adebayo Waheed and Austine Ogunye for the only goal of the game as the former turned provider for the latter to score with 19 minutes to time.

The win represents a second victory for MFM on the road taking their points to 55, three behind table-topping Plateau United.

A goal in each half ensured that Plateau United remained top of the pile and maintained their three-point lead over the chasing pack.

Emmanuel Odafe and Ibeh Johnson scored the goals.

Two-time African champions Enyimba kept their fourth position after defeating Kano Pillars 1-0 in the day's big game. Mfon Udoh scored the winner on 71 minutes from the spot. © supersport.com
