Katsina United skipper Nasiru Sani will be paid match bonus even when he is on duty with the CHAN Eagles, his club chairman has said.
All-action leftback Sani is one of 30 players from the NPFL called up for next month’s CHAN 2018 qualifier.
“It’s an honour to have one of our players in the national team, even though we ought to have more players in the CHAN team,” Katsina United chairman Aminu Balele Kurfi said.
“I believe players like Ashadi Destiny and Frank Kappe also deserve their chance in the national team.“
As part of our support for Nasiru and the national team, we have agreed to pay him match bonuses for any of our matches even if he were away in the CHAN Eagles.
”The club boss also said he expects coach Salisu Yusuf not to release players to their various clubs after this weekend matches so that the CHAN Eagles will be focused for next month’s final playoff for Kenya 2018.“
I am far from satisfied with the preparations of the team for the CHAN qualifiers because we should not take anything for granted especially as we did not qualify for the last AFCON as well as the U17 and U20 AFCONS,” he said.
Nigeria will be in Cotonou on August 12, before they welcome Benin to Kano on August 18 with the overall winners advancing to the CHAN final tournament in Kenya next year.
