Soccer fever has descended on Kano State as it plays host to Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles, who are camping in the state to intensify preparations for the qualifier against Benin Republic scheduled to hold next month in the ancient city.
Daily Sports gathered from a highly placed source that the State Government through the Kano State Sports Commission put all necessary structures that would ensure optimum comfort that would ensure maximum concentration for the players, technical crew and their officials.
“Kano State is home for all. And as a known football playing and other sports loving state, nothing is being left to chance to ensure the state posts sterling facilities that make their stay and training most comfortable.“
They are representing the country and the State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Gandjue, the ardent sports-loving number one citizen of the state gave his nod that everything must be done to put up five star abode for the nation’s CHAN Nations Cup team preparations. The people and government of the state are upbeat to welcome the boys, technical crew and other officials of the squad,” the source posited.
It was further learnt that Kano State, which has contributed immensely to the evolution of sports in the country, offered to host the CHAN Nations Cup team preparation and its qualifying matches.
The team which has Salisu Yusuf, an assistant coach with the Super Eagles, as its Chief Coach, will play Benin Republic national team in a qualifier game to determine who goes to the next round. The Benin Republic side eliminated the Hawks of Togo to set up a showdown against Nigeria.
“Let me say it without any prejudice that the state will be a favourite home ground for our team, we serve as home for all Nigerians. Everybody is solidly behind the team. The priority of the people and government of the state is to mount resounding preparations, host the qualifiers which will ultimately set the tone for the CHAN Eagles qualification for Kenya 2018 finals CHAN Nations Cup football summit. We are ready and would do all we would to actualise that lofty dream for the love of the game and country. It is one of the targets we have set for ourselves and Nigeria as football and other sports development friendly state. We have put every viable option in full place,” the insider source revealed.
