Gernot Rohr will reportedly 'go local' in his search for the next Super Eagles goal-minder.
According to an unnamed official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Rohr will scout the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) for a shot-stopper as their quest to find Vincent Enyeama's full-time replacement continues.
Daniel Akpeyi started between the sticks in the country's 2-0 defeat to Bafana Bafana in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, but the general public were not impressed by the burly goal-minder.
“We read that Rohr is thinking of inviting South Africa-based former U-23 goalkeeper, Emmanuel Daniel to the team, but all I can say is that the issue is more serious than that," an unnamed source told The Guardian.
“We must beat Cameroon in Uyo and to do that we need the best players we can get hence the decision to look for the best goalkeepers around to come and prove what they can do.”
