Plateau United coach Kennedy Boboye watched his side’s five-point lead on the NPFL log reduced to two in Lokoja where Niger Tornadoes scored once to banish the ghost of their previous matchday on and off field debacle in Calabar.
In spite of the defeat, Boboye directed a dig at his opponents dismissing them as the weakest side that has faced Plateau United this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Yet, Boboye whose Plateau United have been the major surprise of the season after 29 matchdays seemed also to suggest that his squad played below their standard.
“I do not think that my lads were the worst, even though I must say that we did not play as well as we should have.
“We did not show up well against Tornadoes because, to be honest, the Tornadoes side I saw is the weakest I have played this season. We could have beaten them easily, if not for some factors which were very clear here,” Boboye summed up the day to npfl.ng.
Plateau United after that loss still occupy top spot on the NPFL table on 51 points, two more than second-placed MFM FC. The Jos club will host FC Ifeanyiubah on Wednesday.
