Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach Fatai Amoo has described as golden the hard fought victory against top-flight newcomers Katsina United.
The Oluyole Warriors pipped the Katsina landlords 1-0 in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 29 clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Wasiu Jimoh’s lone strike in the 44th minute proved adequate to hand the Ibadan landlords the vital three points at stake in the clash.
Amoo said the victory against Katsina United is quite crucial in the side’s fight to avoid the drop at the end of the on-going top-flight.
“The match is quite tough though I never expected anything less from Katsina United on matchday.“
Three points in today’s (Sunday) game is golden and a huge boost in our concerted battle to stay alive.
“A loss or draw today against Katsina United would have made our hope to fight off relegation a mere day dreaming.“
At least with the three points in our kitty we are certain to move up impressively on the league log.
“The score line is inconsequential the key for us is the whole three points in our kitty from today’s clash.“
Right now we must fight hard to win points on the road in the other matches on the calendar while we consolidate on the home ground and that will be good enough to see us keep our status quo in the top-flight,” Amoo noted. (Supersports)
