Yaya Toure is set to sign a new contract with Manchester City and fulfill his hopes of staying at the Etihad Stadium.
The veteran Ivorian midfielder is out of contract at the club but has expressed a desire to remain in the English top flight with the Citizens.
And manager Pep Guardiola is also hopeful that the player will sign on for another season as he looks to build a more balanced squad for 2017/18.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Toure could become one of the highest paid players in the world if he took up the reported offers from Chinese football.
Yet the 34-year-old has always insisted that he wants to stay in the Premier League and his family is settled in the North West of England.
Toure’s City career looked to be at an end early in the 2016/17 season when Guardiola excluded him from their Champions League squad.
However, the player made a strong return to the team from November and has been a regular feature ever since.
City have released all of Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas and Willy Caballero, but it is believed Toure still has plenty to offer the team.
