This season’s Nigeria professional Football League (NPFL) will end on September 3, according to the latest fixtures released by the organisers.
An earlier set of fixtures had put the end of the season at July, but most clubs have complained of congested fixtures forcing the League Management Company (LMC) to readjust the original schedule.
There will still be midweek matches, but they are now more fairly spread out unlike in the first round of the championship when they came thick and fast.
The second round of the season will resume on Sunday across the country.
Plateau United lead the standings with 35 points after 19 matches.
Enugu Rangers are the defending champions.
The champions and runners-up will represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League, while the third-placed club feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.
