NPFL: Finidi laments Enyimba loss

By Daily Sports Nigeria on December 1, 2023

Enyimba coach, Finidi George, has rued his side’s 1-0 home loss to Remo Stars in Wednesday’s Nigeria Premier Football League rescheduled matchday five encounters in Aba insisting that his team deserves more from the encounter.

The reigning champions slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Daniel Ogunmodede’s side after Samad Kadiri’s thumping header secured a memorable win for the Sky Blues.

Enyimba created several chances in the game but was kept at bay by Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole.

Finidi was disappointed his team failed to convert the chances they created in the game.

“I think if you look at the game, throughout the game, we were the team that tried to win the game,” Finidi said.

“I can only fault my boys in the first 25 minutes we didn’t get more aggressive. I don’t know if it was because we didn’t get a proper warming up but I think in the second half we gave our all with everything and it wasn’t possible, so we keep our heads up and think about the next match on Saturday.

“They didn’t play in the second half apart from the long balls they used, if we converted the chances we created, I don’t think we would be talking about the better team.

“We will come back, I will say this is just a mistake and I think the players know it.

Enyimba currently occupies the fifth position on the NPFL table.
