Nigerian-born defender Ola Aina has missed out on receiving a Premier League winners’ medal with newly crowned champions Chelsea as he has not played enough games for them this season.
Aina, who is set to change his international allegiance from England to Nigeria, has only played twice for ‘The Blues’ this season and even if he were to play the team’s last two games, at home against Watford and Sunderland, he will be short of the minimum of five games that will allow a player to get a winners’ medal.
The right back, who trained with the Super Eagles in March in London, has been called up by Nigeria for a training camp in Paris after the FA Cup final on May 27.
Victor Moses made 33 appearances in an unfamiliar right wing-back position to be guaranteed his first-ever winners’ medal with Chelsea since he moved from Wigan Athletic five years ago.
Chelsea will be presented their championship trophy on May 21 after their final game against Sunderland.
