W’Cup: Saudi coach denies Rolls Royce gifts for team

By Daily Sports Nigeria on November 27, 2022

The Saudi Arabian football coach, Herve Renard, has said that the reports that his entire team would be gifted Rolls Royce by the Crown Prince, Mohammed Salman, for their shocking win over Argentina is false.

According to the New York Post, the coach said there was no truth to the report. Renard said, “There is nothing true about this, we have a very serious federation and ministry of sport and it is not the time to get something at this moment. We only have played one game, have two very important [group stage] games and we are hoping for some more.”

“I don’t know if you remember the press conference before Argentina. I said the Argentina game is one of the three important games we have to play. The only good thing at the end of this group stage is to finish No. 1 or No. 2.”, Renard said.

Saleh al-Shehri, who plays forward for the Saudi Arabian team also confirmed that the report was false. “It’s not true, we are here to serve our country and do our best. That is the reward. Perhaps, but a Rolls would be a nice add-on.” He said.

New York Post reports that the claim surfaced from the tweet of a Pakistani dentist who was ill-informed.
