Plateau United head coach Kennedy Boboye has revealed that he intends to beef up his squad ahead of the second round of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The former junior international told Plateau United media that he intends to reinforce his squad with eight new players who will take the place of unproductive players who will be released at the end of the first half.
Boboye noted that the players that are going to be asked to leave the club will be released based on sporting and disciplinary reasons.
He went further to explain that some will be cut because they do not fit into the plans of the technical crew while others will be released over various discipline issues during the first round.
Eight of the new players proposed for the Plateau United squad will be made up of three strikers and five midfielders who are expected to bring more quality and depth to the team as they challenge for the league title.
Plateau United have arguably been the team of the season after 18 matchdays. They topped the table for more than 15 matchweeks of the current campaign and currently are in second place on the log, one point behind Lagos side MFM FC but with a game in hand.
The ‘Peace Boys’ have been promised a double of their match bonus if they win their outstanding game against Rangers International of Enugu on a yet to be announced date.
