Plateau United set sight on MFM’s spot

By Daily Sports on March 26, 2017

The Peace Boys will be aiming to return to the summit when they host the Saraki Boys, while the Olukoya Boys travel to the Savannah Scorpions in a bid to preserve their lead

Plateau United Vs ABS FC
One of the biggest clashes of the Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 15 takes place at the Rwang Pam Stadium as Plateau United seek to get back to the summit when they take on ABS FC.

The visitors, placed fifth in the table, are in good form but considering the stats, the Peace Boys are expected to emerge victorious in Jos.

Gombe United Vs MFM FC
On paper, log-leaders, MFM are heavy favourites against Gombe United as they are currently unbeaten in their past five matches. In contrast, the Savannah Scorpions have failed to win their last three games.

Sunday’s encounter is likely to be a low-scoring one as a draw for the Olukoya Boys would mean they retain the top spot for another week. While Manu Garba’s men will be looking to avoid a defeat against the best team in the division.

Enyimba Vs Rivers United
Enyimba supporters have the feeling that their darling team is back to form following a hard earned 1-1 draw with ABS in Ilorin last Sunday.

From title favourites to relegation battlers, Rivers United are feeling the pressure of combining league and continental assignments.

The People's Elephants and the Pride of Rivers are in dire need of a win considering their run of results. The two sides have been less impressive.

Therefore, this will be a battle between two wounded lions in an electrifying atmosphere. Rivers seem to have run out of ideas at the moment and their morale is seemingly low. Enyimba are likely to edge this at the UJ Esuene Stadium.

Abia Warriors Vs Kano Pillars
Kano Pillars have played some extraordinary football in their past five matches and thus, secured three wins. They have scored seven goals and conceded five goals in the process.

Abia Warriors are also a side playing some good football at the moment. In their last four matches, they secured two wins and two draws.

Both teams faced difficulties in the past, but they have successfully overcome those situations. The Ucendu Babes recent run is likely to intimidate many sides in the topflight, but Pillars’ form shows clearly that they are not one of those.

El Kanemi Warriors Vs Lobi Stars
El Kanemi Warriors will host Lobi Stars in Maiduguri with the hope of maintaining their clean home record. A win gives them an opportunity of going top of the table, should MFM and Plateau United slip.

Meanwhile, Lobi haven’t been bad this season, they are currently seventh in the log, four points off third-placed Warriors.

Both teams have played 12 games against each other in the past. Warriors have won five games, drew four and lost three to Lobi. From all indications the hosts are favourites.

Nasarawa United Vs Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars have been enjoying an unbeaten run of late, though most ended in stalemate. Nasarawa United are placed 11th in the log with 17 points. They will be hoping for a win in this encounter to move up the table.

The Solid Miners’ home performance isn’t one to be confident of but they have what it takes to pick three points at the Lafia City Stadium.

Niger Tornadoes Vs Sunshine Stars
Niger Tornadoes enjoyed a 1-0 victory over 2015 Federation Cup winners, Akwa United last weekend to secure their sixth league win of the season. And they will looking forward to make this their seventh.

Sunshine Stars lost 3-1 to Akwa United the last time that they were in action. The Owena Whales sit 17th on the log with 15 points from 13 games.

Battles between both sides are usually tight but the home side, clearly, have the edge.

Akwa United Vs FC IfeanyiUbah
FC IfeanyiUbah under Yaw Preko have failed to live up to expectations having lost seven games this term.

Akwa United are quietly accumulating points and they come to the tie on the back of three wins in their last five matches.

Abdu Maikaba’s men are playing some wonderful football at the moment and are expected to get fired up for Sunday night’s clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Katsina United Vs Enugu Rangers
Rangers made headlines by winning the league last year but sadly their defence of the silverware have been disastrous.

Katsina United are currently 14th with 16 points from 13 matches and have shown glimpses of brilliance but failed to find consistency.

This is expected to be an extremely close battle with the two teams coming into the game at the back of losses.
Rangers have been compelled to win the game by their management.

Remo Stars Vs Wikki Tourists
Remo Stars have picked up just 12 points from 13 games and, for them, every point is vital.

Visitors, Wikki Tourists will surely fancy their chances against Fatai Osho’s wards, who are still struggling to find their footing. The Bauchi Elephants earned a 2-1 win over Katsina United on Matchday 14 - a result that will surely do wonders for their confidence.

Wikki Tourists’ poor away record is a major concern and they also seem unable to keep their opponents from scoring. Remo will look to use their home ground advantage to the fullest. (Goal.com)
