Senegal friendly model of games ahead, says Kpakor •Warns Eagles, Rohr to prepare for the worst

By Victor Enyinnaya on March 26, 2017

Ex-international Moses Kpakor has said the international friendly between the Super Eagles and the Taranga Lions of Senegal served as a litmus test for the Franco-German technical hand, Germot Rohr as it was action packed throughout the duration of the epic encounter, warning that it is a timely wakeup call that there are still much to be done on the team before the World Cup qualifier games hostilities resume.

According to him, the gaffer must have by now seen that it is not yet done for the former African Champions as the road to Russia 2018 and AFCON 2019 in Cameroun is still very far from sight.

“My happiness is that the game against Senegal was tough enough, a concentrated test of what our match against Cameroun would be like in August. It is also noteworthy to point out that the Eagles came out unbeaten. The spirit with which the Nigerian side confronted the all attacking Taranga Lions was commendable and it was the resultant imagination employed by the lads that brought about the mistake that gave the team the well deserved penalty.
Truly the team is fast evolving and the players are all determined too. It’s like some of the first team players did not feature; there is great glimmer of hope that no team can take us for granted presently. The building process is bringing result,” he critically observed.

Kpakor harped on the need for full concentration by Rohr as he looks critically into the overall team set up as he performs drastic surgical operation on it where necessary as tough, rugged, total and grudge games against the Eagles lie ahead especially in the World Cup qualifiers.

According to him, “It won’t be tea party in Uyo, Limbe Cameroun and in Algeria. There’s every need to roundly fortify the squad for solid, mobility, stability, defence, attacking to groom a team that would set the tone for victory which is the only language we want to solidify our leadership of the group.

“Truth is that there are tough battles ahead especially in World Cup qualification series. Rohr must strategise for a formula that would subdue Cameroun in Uyo first before the return leg war in Limbe. The Eagles must prepare for the worst against Cameroun in Uyo. Thorough planning and then precise execution must be employed because the Cameroonians would come here to play frustrating game in their bid to secure a drawn encounter but these boys are the determined lot that seem not to take no for an answer.”

He commended the entire team and crew in their effort that led to the sharing of spoils in the all grilling outing whose building pair it to grade A friendly which of course lived up its billing by commentators and pundits. The bottom-line is more danger lies ahead. He believes that after the two legged friendlies, NFF leadership would ensure that more chilling games would be arranged to shape up the Nigerian team who are leading the pack in their World Cup group.
