Niger Tornadoes centre back Andrew Ikefe will be available for selection in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 15 clash against Sunshine Stars at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
The Ikon Allah Boys’ strongman has fully recovered from the knee injury he sustained in the matchday 8 home clash against Enyimba.
Ikefe said it’s a huge relief for him to be back in action and to continue doing what he loves best.
“Watching my teammates play while I’m not in action was painful but that is how it was as there was nothing I could have done.
“I was really in agony but thank God I’m back and ready to wear my club’s colours again if selected,” said the former Katsina United strongman to supersport.com.
The Minna landlords’ defender said Tornadoes are one family as he expressed his appreciation to teammates for the love shown to him during his injury spell.
“Niger Tornadoes are a great family; there is a sense of belonging and oneness and the love and concern shown to me I must confess led to my quick recovery.
“I must appreciate the medical department of the club, they ensured that I got enough rest so as not to be rushed back to the field of play which they said would worsen my situation.
“I thought it was something like missing one or two matches. I could not imagine missing up to six matches in a row. It was not a good experience. My prayer is that we have an injury free time for the rest of the season,” said Ikefe.
Ikefe said his side will not take the top-flight clash against Sunshine Stars lightly on Sunday, insisting they must show character, discipline and fight from start to the end of the clash.
“Sunshine Stars are a good side, we know that they have been in NPFL for some time now, but I’m confident we will triumph even though we respect them,” he said.
