Kenya midfielder Victor Wanyama beat off Nigeria’s Victor Moses and Yaya Toure from Cote d’Ivoire to be named English Premier African Player of the Month for January.
Wanyama had a good January with his club, marshaling the defensive midfield and getting up to second in the league, still conserving the record of the team with the best defence in the league.
His performances included a sterling display against league leaders Chelsea, handing the latter a first defeat in 14 matches at White Hart Lane.
The Harambee Stars captain last won the award in September 2015 when he was still a player with Southampton FC. (MTNfootball.com)
