Neymar Jr’s five has officially launched in Nigeria. The event took place on January 18, 2017 in Lekki, Lagos. Coming to Africa’s most populous football loving nation for the first time, Neymar Jr’s Five is sure to attract Nigeria’s top talents.
The 2017 Nigeria qualification rounds will be held across nine locations, with two days of group stage qualifications before a final knock-out round for the top scoring teams. Games are quick and fast paced with each team playing at least twice in the group stages.
With free registration, demand is high, and total teams allowed into the tournament is limited. This means teams need to register online to guarantee their spot or show up on day 1 at 9am to register in person at their selected qualification location.
All you must know about Neymar Jr’s Five
Neymar Jr’s Five is the Brazilian forward’s signature football tournament – and a truly global phenomenon. Across six continents and more than 50 countries, five-a-side teams battle it out in 10-minute matches with a twist.
Every time one team scores, the opposition loses a player, which makes it fast, technical, tactical – and unique in the world of football. More than 65,000 players from 47 countries signed up to play in the first year of Neymar Jr's Five and 2017 promises to be even bigger.
This year’s tournament is open to teams of five to seven players aged 16 to 25, and for the first time, two over-aged players are allowed on each team. The teams will set out with the hope of making it all the way from the qualifiers, to their national final and on to the World Final in July 2017, at the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr in Praia Grande, Brazil.
Sign your team up now here – and who knows? You might soon be playing on Neymar Jr’s home turf. Dare to dream, and outplay them all! (goal.com)
