Senegal on Sunday emerged champions of the African Football Confederation (CAF) Beach Soccer 2016 tournament after mauling hosts, Super Sand Eagles 8-4 in the final played under floodlight in Lagos.
It was their fourth title.
The Senegalese side exhibited the class that made them unmatchable for the hard fighting Super Sand Eagles.
However, the two finalists will represent Africa at the Beach Soccer World Cup in 2017 in the Bahamas.
Nigeria won the competition in 2003 and 2007.
Fatma Samoura, FIFA Secretary-general, who watched the final tweeted: “Exciting final of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations. Congratulations to Senegal, beating hosts Nigeria to land 4th African title.” (NAN)
