Sunshine Stars: Duke Udi replaces Eguavoen

Former Nigeria forward Duke Udi will quit Oshun United Monday and take over Sunshine Stars as replacement for Austin Eguavoen.

Scorenigeria.com.ng reports that Udi, a former Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC midfielder who also had spell at Enyimba and in Israel as well as Switzerland will assume duties today.

He will also turn his resignation letter to the management of Osun United same day and head straight for his new post in Akure.

“Duke Udi has been hired as new Sunshine Stars head coach”, an official of the club said.

“He will start work on Monday, June 19”, the official added without wanting to be named in print because he is not authorised to speak for the club.

According to the official, Udi will be assisted by Tony Alegbe, a former Enyimba captain and Shaktar Donetsk of Ukraine forward.

Alegbe, Scorenigeria.com.ng further learnt, linked up with Sunshine Stars on Thursday June 15.

It would be recalled that Eguavoen stepped down from his Sunshine Stars managerial position after five matches in charge.

Duke Udi has had managerial spells at FC Giwa, Enugu Rangers before taking up similar responsibility at struggling Sunshine Stars.
