Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has said he has received a promise from the parents from Netherlands-based defender Tyronne Ebuehi he will honour an Eagles call-up after he turned down his first chance with the team.
Ebuehi was called up by Nigeria for last month’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria, but he later rejected the invitation.
“The parents told me he will come for the first selections when we invite him again,” said Rohr in an interview.
“The player from Holland told me yes, but in the last moment he told me no.”
Ebuehi was scouted for the Eagles right fullback position, which has seen four players feature in that role in the team’s last three matches – Musa Mohammed, Wilfred Ndidi, Kenneth Omeruo and Shehu Abdullahi. (mtnfootball.com)
