I knew the manager would need me – Yaya Toure

By Daily Sports on November 22, 2016

Yaya Toure has explained that he kept himself fit and ready for action in the knowledge that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would eventually need his services.

Toure made a stunning return to first-team football for the Citizens this past weekend, scoring both goals in a 2-1 away win over Crystal Palace.

"I was prepared mentally and I knew that one day my manager would need me," Toure said. "You must always stay professional."

The 33-year-old was applauded back into the dressing room by his teammates and revealed that they were always behind him, even when he was frozen out of the team.

"They have always been brilliant with me, always supportive," said Toure. "I always want to be there to help them. I am professional, I always want to improve my game.”

Toure, though, will not be able to feature for Man City in the Champions League this midweek, as he was excluded from their squad list for the European competition. (mtnfootball.com)
