Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has assured fans that the three-time African champions will not disappoint against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
The Eagles will confront the north Africans in Saturday’s World Cup qualifying matchday 2 group B clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Akpeyi said his side main target is to claim the three points at stake in the expected crunch encounter against the Algerians.
“We know and appreciate the high expectations of Nigerians in the World Cup qualifying clash against Algeria.
“Algeria are not an easy side so for certain the encounter is sure to be difficult for both sides.
“However, we know what is at stake in the important clash and that explains the high spirit among the players.
“We are mentally and physically ready to fight the Algerians for the whole three points at stake.
“We just have to remain focus and disciplined heading to matchday on Saturday, I’m quite confident we will not disappoint Nigerians.
“Our sole aim is to claim the whole three points at stake to establish a clear lead in the group’s race.
“So far training has been going on perfectly well we hope to continue on the path until victory is achieved,” said the Chippa United shot stopper to supersport.com.
Nigeria lead the group on three points, two ahead of Algeria and Cameroon, while Zambia are at the base without a point.
The Super Eagles are expected to depart Abuja on Wednesday to the match venue, Uyo where they will continue their build-up for Saturday’s clash. (supersport.com)
