Fans following scares Iwobi

By Daily Sports on October 12, 2016

Thanks to Twitter, Facebook and the vast increase in football coverage in the media over the years, fans feel closer to star footballers than ever before.

But Arsenal midfielder, Alex Iwobi has revealed a particularly frightening incident in which a supporter almost got a bit too close, having started to follow him home.

After the Gunners' 2-0 win over Basel in the Champions League at the Emirates Stadium last month, Iwobi got in his car and left the stadium but was being pursued by someone.

"I remember the last home game we played," he told Arsenal's official weekly podcast. "For 15 minutes there was one fan following me and I was getting a bit scared.

"I was getting close to my destination. I was thinking, 'I’m going to have to do a detour before I get to my destination before he ends up finding where I’m going'.

"That was a bit mad."

Iwobi, 20, has been bright for Arsenal this season, having set up three goals in seven games across the Champions League and Premier League. (goal.com)
