Grant confident of W/Cup ticket despite Uganda draw

By Daily Sports on October 10, 2016

Ghana coach Avram Grant says he remains confident of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Uganda in their Group E opener on Friday.

The Black Stars threw everything they had at the Cranes, but the match in Tamale ended in a stalemate.

Despite losing out on two points at home, Grant explained that he remains confident of qualifying for Russia 2018, arguing that tough matches are to be expected.

“We have five games to go," Grant said in the post match interview at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

"Even in the [2015] AFCON, we lost the opening game [to Senegal] but we qualified (from the group in the end).

"We have the quality to make it. Our group is a tough group, so there won’t be easy games.

"They have got a point here, we can go there and beat them, it’s football.”

Ghana will play South Africa in an international friendly in Durban on Tuesday, while their next 2018 qualifier will be away to Egypt next month. (mtnfootball.com)
