Enyimba FC have insisted that they are fully focused on their Federation Cup semifinal tie with Nasarawa United slated for October 15 in Ibadan, while dismissing news of them being in touch with new coaches and players witha view to securing contracts with them..
The Aba giants finished ninth in the just concluded season, a far cry from their league title winning exploit of the previous campaign and media is awash with reports that several coaches and players are in talks with the People’s Elephant.
“We acknowledged that it is common practice that a player or coach who wants to boost his image will claim he has been contacted by Enyimba,” media officer, Farriel Allaputa told Goal.
“The club is in no such discussions and should such need arise, the club know whichever coach or player they need and will hire such a person professionally not on the pages of newspapers.
“At the moment, we are fully focused on the upcoming Federation Cup semifinal against Nasarawa United and are not happy with these false reports. Journalists should do a proper job of inquiring from the club if a claim is true before posting such stories.” (goal.com)
