Ilkay Gundogan has said he believes the Premier League is the strongest competition in the world.
Manchester City midfielder Gundogan, 25, is back on international duty with Germany after missing Euro 2016 through injury.
Speaking at a prematch news conference ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Czech Republic, the former Borussia Dortmund player told reporters: “I believe the Premier League is the strongest league in Europe, in the world.
“There are five, six teams who can win the title, and last season Leicester won it.”
Gundogan, set to win his 17th cap for Germany against the Czechs, made his debut for City in the Champions League match against Borussia Monchengladbach last month and has since started two games in the top flight.
He was one of Pep Guardiola’s first signings for City, and he said training under the “world class” coach was “extremely demanding.” (NAN)
