Antalyaspor Eto’o from squad after racism claim

By Daily Sports on September 22, 2016

Samuel Eto’o has been dropped from the Antalyaspor squad after writing: “Perhaps some people do not feel respect for me because I am black” on his Instagram account.

Eto’o, a former Cameroon captain, did not specify to whom his comment was addressed, but it was posted alongside a CV detailing his glittering football career.

The 35-year-old striker denied it had been aimed at chairman, Ali Safak Ozturk, who had criticised his performances earlier in the season.

The club confirmed that Eto’o had been dropped until further notice in a statement on their official website.

Eto’o joined Antalyaspor last year, but has recently been linked with a move to their rivals, Besiktas as the team suffered a poor start to the season.

That prompted a backlash from supporters and some football pundits. (NAN)
