Durosinmi weds lover after leaving Eagles camp

By Daily Sports Nigeria on June 8, 2026

Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi tied the knot with his Belgian-Nigerian bride, Praise Nwanegbo, over the weekend after excusing himself from the Super Eagles camp, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Durosinmi left the team in Warsaw after featuring in the 2-2 draw against Poland last Wednesday.

The forward was initially invited only for the Unity Cup matches in London, but he travelled with the team to Warsaw after coach Eric Chelle’s squad was hit by the withdrawals of key players, including Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

He played 45 minutes against Poland for his third appearance for Nigeria.

After the game, he left the team and travelled home for his wedding ceremony. The special occasion meant he could not remain with the squad as they moved from Poland to Portugal for the next stage of their preparations.

Durosinmi was one of the newcomers called up by Chelle for the 2026 Unity Cup in London. He made his senior debut against Zimbabwe at The Valley, coming on in the second half as Nigeria secured a comfortable 2-0 victory.

His promising cameo earned him a place in the starting line-up for the Unity Cup final against Jamaica.

Partnering captain Terem Moffi in attack, Durosinmi helped Nigeria dominate the match as the Super Eagles cruised to a 3-0 victory and successfully retained the Unity Cup trophy.
