The tournament will also provide coaches with an opportunity to assess players under pressure, while encouraging healthy rivalry, discipline and dedication among the cadets.

Beyond competing for medals and recognition, outstanding performers will receive closer attention from the association and could be considered for selection to Lagos State teams.

“As the programme grows and attracts greater sponsorship, we intend to strengthen the incentives available to outstanding players, including equipment and other forms of developmental support,” Lawal said.

He said the long-term objective was to create a sustainable pathway for the development of table tennis in Lagos and Nigeria.

“This tournament is not just about producing monthly winners. It is about discovering tomorrow’s champions,” Lawal said.
