Davnotch pledge support for Tennis in Nigeria

By Daily Sports Nigeria on June 27, 2026

Davnotch Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of Tennis in the country, pledging to sustain its sponsorship of the Davnotch National Open Tennis Championship and promising enhanced benefits for players in future editions of the tournament.

Managing Director Emmanuel Ochei made the declaration at a media interaction ahead of the grand finale of the sixth edition of the championship, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Ochei said sports development demands consistent investment, innovation and deliberate planning, adding that future editions of the tournament would feature increased prize money and expanded initiatives aimed at benefiting players at all levels.

He pointed to what he described as one of the tournament’s most significant contributions to Nigerian tennis, the breaking of a 37-year jinx by Nigeria’s Davis Cup team, who recently advanced to Group 2 of the competition after defeating highly ranked Uzbekistan, a feat he attributed in large part to talent nurtured through previous editions of the championship.

“That remains our vision, and we are committed to making it a reality,” Ochei said, expressing confidence that the tournament would continue to serve as a platform for talent discovery, champion development and the repositioning of Nigeria as a leading force in tennis on the African continent and beyond.
