Joy Omewa has expressed her delight after scoring her first goals for the Super Falcons in Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over Senegal in an international friendly in Ikenne on Monday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The striker grabbed a second-half brace as the 10-time African champions completed a double-header sweep of the Teranga Lionesses, following their 2-1 win in the first meeting on Friday.
Reacting to her memorable outing, Omewa described the moment as a dream come true for herself and her family.
“Super happy with the win, an amazing performance from the girls in front of our home fans in Ikenne. Grateful to score my first two goals for Nigeria. A dream come true for me and my family. Big thanks to my coaches, teammates, and everyone supporting me,” Omewa wrote on X.
The forward broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half when she connected with a cross from Shukurat Oladipo to head Nigeria into the lead.
She doubled the advantage seven minutes later, showing strength and composure to power through the Senegal defence before finding the back of the net for her second goal of the evening.
Omewa’s impressive display capped a productive outing after she was handed a starting berth by coach Justine Madugu, who made several changes to his side for the second friendly.
Substitute Asisat Oshoala added a third goal in the 66th minute to seal a comprehensive victory for the Super Falcons, who finished the two-match series with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline.
The result provided another encouraging performance for Madugu’s side ahead of next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria will be chasing a record-extending 11th continental title.
The 2026 WAFCON will kick off on July 25 and run until August 16 in Morocco.
Falcons are drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi, while Senegal will face hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya in Group A.
