Nigerian forward Murjanatu Musa completed a historic domestic double in France on Sunday after helping Basket Landes defeat Bourges Basket 53-50 in the deciding Game Three of the Ligue Féminine de Basketball finals, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The victory secured Basket Landes’ second consecutive French league title and the third championship in the club’s history, adding to the French Cup triumph they had already won earlier in the season.

Musa played a key role throughout the finals series and again delivered an important contribution in the title-clinching match, finishing with eight points, nine rebounds, and two assists as Basket Landes fought back from a third-quarter deficit to seal the crown in front of their home supporters.

The closely contested final saw both teams level at 15-15 after the opening quarter and tied again at 27-27 at half-time.

Bourges edged ahead 40-36 at the end of the third quarter before Basket Landes produced a decisive late surge in the final period.

A crucial three-pointer from Marie Pardon with 17 seconds remaining swung the game firmly in Basket Landes’ favour before they closed out the victory to spark celebrations at Espace François Mitterrand.

Leïla Lacan led the scoring with 19 points and was named Finals MVP, while Musa finished as the team’s third-highest scorer in the decisive encounter.

The Nigerian had maintained remarkable consistency throughout the finals, posting eight points and nine rebounds in Game Two after also recording eight points, three rebounds and one assist in the opening game of the series.

Musa joined Basket Landes ahead of the season and has now enjoyed a memorable debut campaign in France, helping the club secure both major domestic trophies while establishing herself as one of the important figures in the squad’s successful title defence.
