Over 250 golfers from across the country will converge for the Stephen Ebaretonbofa Invitational Tourney at the Benin Golf Club from March 23 to 28 in Edo State.

The tournament, which will feature both professional and amateur players, is organised to celebrate the 50th birthday of Ebaretonbofa, who is also the captain of the club.

According to the programme of events, the tournament tees off today with ladies showcasing their skills on the course.

On Tuesday, caddies from Edo and Delta States will contest an open round to recognise their contributions to the game and the mentorship of the club captain.

The professional challenge takes centre stage on Wednesday and Thursday, featuring the top 10 professionals in Nigeria competing against other invited professionals from Ikoyi Golf Club, Lakowe Lakes Golf Club, Ikeja Golf Club, IBB Golf and Country Club, TYB Golf Club, Python Golf Club, Ilorin Golf Club, Ibori Golf and Country Club, Sapele Athletic Golf Club, Ogunnu Golf Resorts, Ibom Golf and Country Club, UBTH Golf Club, and the Benin Golf Club section.

Actions continue on Friday with men’s handicap 13–28, ladies’ handicap 29–36, and all veterans and super veterans taking to the course.

The grand finale will be held on Saturday and will feature men’s handicap 1–12 and ladies’ handicap 1–28, with closing round games followed by the presentation of prizes and a dinner in the BCGS pavilion.
