Eagles to face Jordan in March friendly

By Daily Sports Nigeria on February 17, 2026

THE Super Eagles will take on Jordan in an international friendly during the March FIFA national team window, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to Afrik-Foot, the match is scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan’s capital, between March 23 and 31, with both federations having reached an agreement for the fixture.

Jordan will use the encounter as part of preparations for their maiden appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Middle Eastern nation has been drawn in a group with African opposition, including Algeria, making a test against Nigeria an ideal warm-up ahead of the global tournament.

For the Super Eagles, the friendly offers head coach Eric Chelle a timely opportunity to assess new and emerging players while rebuilding his squad following their failure to qualify for the World Cup through the African playoffs.

Nigeria’s World Cup hopes ended after a penalty shootout defeat to DR Congo in the African qualifying playoffs held in Morocco. However, the Nigeria Football Federation lodged a formal protest with FIFA in December, alleging that DR Congo fielded ineligible players during the tie.

A ruling is expected in the coming days, and should the decision favour Nigeria, the Super Eagles could still be drafted into the inter-confederation playoffs scheduled for next month in Mexico.

Until that verdict is delivered, the March friendly against Jordan remains crucial for Chelle’s squad to stay competitive.
