AFCON 2025: Akor Adams’ goal named among CAF’s top five

Super Eagles striker, Akor Adams, has earned continental recognition as his goal against Algeria during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has been listed among CAF’s top five goals of the tournament.

Compiled on the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 X handle as seen by PUNCH Online on Thursday, Adams’ memorable strike came in the quarter-final clash against Algeria, where his precision, composure, and technical brilliance helped Nigeria secure a 2–0 victory.

The goal played a crucial role in propelling the Super Eagles toward a third-place finish in the competition.

2. Christian Kofane (Cameroon)

3. Adil Boulbina (Algeria)

In a final filled with controversy and chaos, Senegal midfielder Pape Gueye scored the decisive goal against hosts Morocco. In the fourth minute of extra time, he fired a powerful left-footed strike into the top corner, clinching a 1–0 victory and Senegal’s second AFCON title.
