President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Mbata, has lambasted the minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his recent verbal attack against him.
On Tuesday, the former lawmaker had declared that “there is only one governor in Rivers State” whether Wike likes it or not.
Mbata made the remarks during the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration in Obio/Akpor local government area of the State which was attended by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“There is only one governor in Rivers State, whether you like it oo, you don’t like it oo. If you like, shout from now till tomorrow,” Mbata said to the loud cheers of the crowd present.
On Wednesday, Wike responded, describing Mbata as local politician without any success despite his eight-year tenure in the Senate.
Meanwhile in a fresh viral video, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General launched another scathing verbal attack on the FCT minister over the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.
In the video, Mbata criticised Wike’s conduct, language, accusing him of lacking basic decorum and education, questioning his public utterances and approach to governance.
“One of the signs of very poor education and upbringing is that you can’t even pronounce simple words. What’s the meaning of ‘integrate, integrate, integrate’?” Mbata said.
He went further, describing Wike as a political bully who believes silence from others amounts to fear.
“Can somebody tell this semi-illiterate, swashbuckling, crisis-loving gentleman that Rivers State belongs to all of us, not him alone? And we will resist you. You won’t get away with all this nonsense you’re doing. You think because nobody is talking, you can do anything? You are a very big fool. An idiot,” he said.
He also appeared to reference a past personal relationship with Wike, suggesting a reversal of roles and respect.
“You have forgotten the days you used to wash my car, and I used to feed you and pay your school fees. You think you can just talk to me anyhow, you are just an idiot!”
