NPFL: Kano Pillars overcome Rivers United; Wikki compound MFM’s woes as Ikorodu return to winning ways

Gambo Mohammed scored the solitary goal for Kano Pillars against Rivers United, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). The goal came in the 23rd   minute of the match, after he received a pass from Adamu Mohammed, tapping past goalkeeper Abiodun Akande.

The score line would have been two-nil if Rabiu Ibrahim’s shot had not hit the bar at the 71st   minute of the game.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourist defeated the relegation-threatening Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club, (MFM FC) 2-1, with Godwin Obaje scoring both goals in the 19th and 34th  minute, his fourth brace if the season. Austin Ogunye scored the solitary goal for MFM FC at the 64th minute.

MFM FC goalkeeper, James Aiyeyemi was brave enough to deny Obaje a hat-trick at the 82nd   minute.

Ikorodu United, banished to MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes, in their first match at the gateway state.  Adeshina Oduntan scored the only goal of the match at the dead end of the game

It took only ten minutes for Emeka Atuloma of Heartland to score the solitary goal against Shooting Stars of Ibadan in Owerri. This is their tenth victory of the season.  Akwa United also won 1-0 against Lobi Stars at the Nest of Champions.

The NPFL table currently sees Wikki Tourist on top with 53 points after 30 matches, Enugu Rangers with 51 points after 30 matches, Rivers United sit on third place with 50 points after 31 matches and Ifeanyi Ubah stay at 49 points after 31 matches.

On the lower part of the table, MFM FC sit on 18th position with 37 points after 29 matches, Ikorodu United stay on 19th place with 22 points after 30 matches and returnee Giwa FC sit bottom on the table with 14 points after 18 matches.
