The newly elected board members of the Nigeria Boxing Federation have paid a courtesy visit to Team Nigeria at their training camp in De Bentley Hotel, Abuja, as the national boxing team intensifies preparations for the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games.
The visit comes ahead of the competition scheduled to take place from November 7 to 21, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The board members commended the athletes and coaches for their dedication and assured them of continuous support.
Former president of the Nigeria Boxing Federation and current board member, Azania Omo-Agege, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the Islamic Games.
“What we have seen here today shows the hard work and commitment of our boxers and their coaches. We are confident that Team Nigeria will make the nation proud in Riyadh,” Omo-Agege said.
“As a board, we are committed to providing all necessary support to ensure our athletes compete at the highest level. The Islamic Solidarity Games represent a great opportunity for Nigeria to showcase our boxing talent on the global stage, and we believe this team has what it takes to excel.”
The 2025 edition marks the return of the Islamic Games to Saudi soil after two decades, promising a grander scale and heightened camaraderie among member nations.
The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, had earlier described the games as representing more than just competition, saying, “They are about unity, humanity, and cultural celebration. Nigeria is proud to be part of that vision, and we’re preparing to showcase both our sporting talent and our values.”
